Significant landmark increases access to oral health care for patients throughout the United States.

IRVINE, CALIF. Oct. 15, 2021 – Pacific Dental Services® (PDS) recently announced the grand opening of its 850th supported dental practice, marking yet another significant milestone in the dental support organization’s 27-year history. The newly opened supported practice, Dentists of Eastgate in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the latest in the company’s long line of successful dental practices which has grown PDS into a dental and medical leader in business support services, proven technology and innovation.

“Reaching 850 supported dental practices is an extraordinary achievement,” said Stephen E. Thorne IV, Founder and CEO of Pacific Dental Services. “The success of this company has been due to the hard work, ingenuity and commitment to service from each and every PDS team member. We’re honored that so many owner dentists have trusted us to provide support services to their clinical practices so they can focus on what’s most important – patient care. I look forward to our continued growth as we continue our efforts in helping dentists create healthier, happier patients across the nation.”

Pacific Dental Services has established itself as a national leader, educating others on the link between oral health and overall health – what PDS and its supported practices call the Mouth-Body Connection®. Research shows that harmful bacteria and inflammation in the mouth can indicate and even cause systemic conditions throughout the body. Maladies of the mouth, including periodontal disease, may be linked with other medical conditions including oral cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis and more.

PDS-supported practices are also committed to clinical excellence and providing the Perfect Patient Experience® through modern dentistry with advanced, proven technology. These clinical treatment tools are at the forefront of oral and whole-body health care and include CEREC® CAD/CAM same-day crowns, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital X-rays, soft tissue diode lasers, salivary diagnostics and the VELscope® oral cancer screening system.

Furthermore, Pacific Dental Services was the first dental support organization in the world to implement Epic®, the most widely used comprehensive health records system, into supported practices. Through Epic, dental practices can easily exchange patient data with health care providers for improved patient care. Integrated health records provide a better understanding of a patient’s overall health, allowing providers to more effectively design a treatment plan to achieve and maintain optimal well-being. This also allows patients to view their acute, primary and dental health records all in one place. This powerful tool helps connect what is happening in their mouth with the rest of their body, leading to better overall health for the patient.

In addition, PDS recently launched a one-of-a-kind dental-medical practice in support of whole-body health with the opening of three practices – general dentistry, pediatric dentistry and medical care – in one convenient location in Henderson, Nevada. This innovative health care concept increases access to comprehensive care and enables patients to be seen by clinicians who understand the Mouth-Body Connection. The integrated approach offers patients a holistic strategy to their health care through a variety of services, including primary medical care, oral health care for adult and pediatric patients, salivary testing, preventative medicine, chronic disease management and more.
