A leader in community service, the organization has been recognized as one of the region’s 50 most community-minded companies.

HENDERSON, NEV. September 23, 2024 – PDS Health, a leading dental and medical support organization, has once again been recognized in the annual The Civic 50 Orange County, an honor given to the 50 most community-minded companies in the region. This prestigious accolade is awarded by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, in partnership with OneOC, a nonprofit committed to accelerating nonprofit success in Orange County, Calif. This year marks the sixth time PDS Health has received this honor, having previously been recognized in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019 and 2017.

The selection process involves an independently administered and scored survey that evaluates companies based on four key dimensions of engagement: resource investment, integration across business functions, institutionalization through policies and systems, and the measurement of social impact.

In the spring, Points of Light named PDS Health one of The Civic 50 honorees of 2024, a national accolade given to companies with annual U.S. revenues of at least $1 billion.

“We are honored to be recognized once again as one of the Civic 50 Orange County by Points of Light and OneOC,” said Stephen E. Thorne IV, Founder and CEO of PDS Health. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to serving our communities and reflects the dedication of our team members who consistently go above and beyond to make a positive impact. Our commitment to service is about cultivating a spirit of compassion that transforms our own hearts and minds. Serving others enriches us, changing our perspectives on what truly matters, and drives us to make a lasting difference in the lives of those around us.”

Since its founding in 1994, PDS Health has established an important tradition and culture of service, providing assistance locally, regionally, and around the world. PDS Health practices organize donation drives, support local food banks, and participate in charitable partnerships through sponsorships, and offer team members paid volunteer time for their chosen organizations. They collaborate on building playgrounds with KABOOM! and lend their support to Special Olympics. At the company’s annual Smile Generation Serve Day held recently, 14,000 team members came together nationwide to provide 87,000 volunteer hours and $16.5 million in donated dental services and community support.

PDS Health is equally dedicated to international philanthropic initiatives, engaging in both fundraising and hands-on service trips. Earlier this year, PDS Health reached a notable milestone by raising more than $1.45 million for communities in Ethiopia through charity: water, which provides clean and safe drinking water to underserved communities in developing nations. Additionally, PDS Health clinical and non-clinical volunteers regularly travel to Guatemala, where they work at the PDS Foundation Clínica Dental, mentoring dental students and providing essential care and service to local communities. These initiatives demonstrate the profound and lasting impact of PDS Health’s global efforts.

PDS Health remains dedicated to its purpose of creating healthier, happier patients through meaningful service and compassionate care. By cultivating a culture of volunteerism and engagement, the organization strives to improve lives both locally and globally.
