Advancing

Oral Health and Overall Health with Integrated Care

We believe that oral health is deeply connected to overall health. By integrating dental and medical care, we support clinicians in delivering more comprehensive treatment, addressing both oral health care and systemic conditions. Our commitment to this integrated approach ensures patients receive a higher standard of care, improving outcomes beyond the dental chair.

The Mouth-Body Connection®

The Mouth-Body Connection refers to the link between oral health and overall health, and the role the harmful bacteria and inflammation in the mouth can indicate and induce systemic conditions throughout the body. Knowing a patient’s dental and medical history can help eliminate gaps in care and support value-based treatment. Focusing on the Mouth-Body Connection empowers our supported-clinicians to deliver enhanced care, elevate the patient experience, and improve personalized treatment.

Transforming Care with Technology

Integrated Health Records

With Epic’s integrated health records system, dental and medical professionals can collaborate more efficiently by accessing shared patient information. This enables better coordination of care, where dentists and physicians work together to create comprehensive treatment plans that address both oral health and overall health concerns, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography

CBCT offers precise 3D imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions. With a single scan, clinicians can identify oral health conditions, underlying bone structure, nerve pathways, and soft tissues, improving diagnostic precision and supporting reconstructive procedures.

Saliva Diagnostics

Through a simple saliva test, clinicians can measure a patient's harmful bacteria levels and assess their genotype to create personalized care plans that address both oral health and overall health concerns, preventing progression to systemic conditions.

Saliva Screening

The chairside aMMP-8 biomarker screening detects early signs of periodontal tissue breakdown, often before they are clinically visible. Clinicians provide results within minutes, giving patients an actionable "oral fitness" score along with preventive care recommendations.

AI Technology-Enabled Imaging Analysis

AI-enabled image deciphering and sorting software assists clinicians in analyzing dental images, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and supporting effective treatment planning.

Integrated Practices for Collaborative Care

We are actively leading the shift toward integrated care by bringing together dental and medical services to improve patient outcomes. Through innovative models like co-locating dental and medical practices, embedding primary care services within dental offices, and building strategic partnerships, we are transforming how care is delivered. This approach ensures that patients receive comprehensive care that addresses both their oral health care and overall health needs, reinforcing our commitment to advancing health care collaboration and excellence.

Clinician and Industry Education

We provide education for clinicians, both within our supported network and to the industry as a whole.

Mouth-Body Connection® Symposium

Dedicated to clinical excellence, we launched the first-ever Mouth-Body Connection® Symposium in 2023. This event gathered leading professionals, including supported dentists, hygienists, and primary care providers, to discuss the latest advancements in oral-systemic health. Experts shared valuable insights on preventive dentistry, integrating dental and medical care, and the essential role oral health care plays in improving overall patient health. The symposium reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing patient outcomes through innovation and education.

Patient Education Resources

Through Smile Generation, we offer a variety of resources to educate patients on the Mouth-Body Connection®. These include a digital magazine, an ebook, and a regularly updated blog. These resources provide valuable insights into the link between oral health care and overall health, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care and well-being.
