A question we hear often from job candidates is, “What is it like to work at Pacific Dental Services?” And we think the best way to answer this is to hear from a team member. We asked one of our regional marketing managers, Jasmine Bennison, about her experience working at Pacific Dental Services. Here’s what she had to say.
Life at PDS as a Regional Marketing Manager
Published: Apr 07, 2024
PDS:
How long have you worked at PDS?
Jasmine:
I have been with PDS for eight years.
PDS:
Great. Have you had any other roles at PDS besides regional marketing manager? If so, please share about that.
Jasmine:
Yes, I started out in dental as a dental assistant for a private company. I moved from North Carolina to New Mexico, and that's when I joined PDS as a specialty healthcare coordinator. From there, I moved to a regional marketing assistant, a regional marketing specialist, and now a regional marketing manager.
PDS:
What is your favorite part of your role?
Jasmine:
My favorite part about being a regional marketing manager is that I am a part of a multitude of teams. I have my marketing team, I have my regional team that I get to partner with, and then I get to go into a different practice every day and be a part of their team to help move the needle. That's my favorite part.
PDS:
Can you share about your favorite part of your team?
Jasmine:
My favorite part about my team is that we're constantly growing with each other. I know that if there's something that I don't know, I can call one of my regional managers or my regional partner and we talk through things. I feel like I have grown so much. It's been great. We really lean on each other for our development and growth.
PDS:
What stands out to you about the culture of PDS?
Jasmine:
I'm like a PDS cheerleader! I enjoy everything from local office events to Smile Gen and recruiting events. Talking about PDS is just so fun. My favorite part is the culture of service. How many employers give you eight hours to do good in your community? That's huge to me! Even my regional partner, dentists, dental assistants, and our CEO prioritize service. It's awesome to work for a company that values this culture.
PDS:
What is a We Believe that resonates with you and why?
Jasmine:
My favorite We Believe is “Only God knows what tomorrow holds”. I was employed pre-COVID so I went through COVID times and emerged a part of such an amazing team. So much growth has happened. But I also believe you have to invest in yourself and in your growth. So, making sure you're constantly learning and adapting and being a huge asset to your team. I think that's a huge part, which almost kind of ties into the We Believe about job security, “Job security lies in the individual’s employability”. I think those two sometimes go hand in hand and are my favorites.
PDS:
How have you grown both personally and professionally as a PDS team member?
Jasmine:
I've grown a lot in leadership since joining PDS. Starting out, I was young and naive, eager to take on challenges. Now, eight years later, I feel more experienced but just as ready to tackle new opportunities. I've learned from various leaders in our network, which has been invaluable. Being a marketing manager now, I've gained extensive knowledge not only in marketing but also in operations. Leveraging both has been key to my growth as a leader.
PDS:
What unique opportunities have you received as a team member?
Jasmine:
Being part of the medical and dental integration development is amazing. I share insights with friends and family. On their next visit, my parents will do oral DNA testing and perio fitness. It's eye-opening to discover things like the mouth-body connection and the multitude of biomarkers in the mouth. This education wouldn't have happened elsewhere.
PDS:
PDS team members are very involved in serving the community. What are some memorable ways that you've been able to serve with PDS?
Jasmine:
The most memorable serving experience was partnering with Dr. Kelley Ryals out in Santa Fe for a veterans standdown. My husband is a veteran. I come from a family of veterans, and it is an underserved community. Working alongside top clinicians and team members, we made a real difference in people's lives. Although we haven't been able to do this since COVID, the impact has stayed with me and fueled my passion for service. It was my first real experience in serving. Since then, I seek different ways to make an impact and have been involved with organizations like Feed New Mexico Kids, Special Olympics, NMDOG, Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, and NM Cancer Foundation.
PDS:
What would you say to someone considering a job with PDS?
Jasmine:
It's incredible being a part of PDS. The amount of growth that you will experience, the amount of exposure that you will experience, and it is just a wonderful team to work with. The culture is amazing.
PDS:
Do you have anything else to share?
Jasmine:
I would say my favorite thing right now is seeing the trajectory of PDS - where we're going, what we're doing, what we're accomplishing. It's an exciting time to be a part of Pacific Dental Services, and be a part of such a huge, impactful company. It's amazing to witness and to be a part of.
